The Material Controller will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased material to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints.
This is working for a global manufacturing business and is required on an 18-month contract.
The role benefits from hybrid working with you typically being on site 3 days per week. The working pattern means you finish work on a Friday at 1.30 pm giving you more of a weekend!
Role and Responsibilities of the Material Controller
- Ensure component requirements are correct and communicated to suppliers in a timely, professional manner
- Understand and implement any MRP generated ‘messages’ and amend supplier schedules accordingly
- Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels
- Ensure inventory levels of components under individual control are in alignment with departmental objectives
- Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods
- Highlight future supply risks
- Provide monthly forecast of expected deliveries
- Proactively resolve invoice queries
- Identify and remedy excess inventory
Candidate requirements for the Material Controller
- Previous experience required in a similar role
- CIPS qualification is advantageous
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to identify problems and offer solutions
- Sound working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor
