As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio of assets, from bridges and roadways to piers, quays, and breakwaters helping to shape the future of our client’s infrastructure.
You’ll act as an internal consultant, reviewing designs and specifications to ensure projects meet statutory requirements and industry best practice.
You’ll also review designs, technical specifications, work packages, and drawings for a range of improvement works, which could include new construction, planned works, and reactive maintenance.
Part of your role will be assisting in the delivery of condition inspections. You’ll evaluate asset performance, report findings, and use your engineering judgment to plan efficient and sustainable maintenance and repair strategies.
Key Responsibilities of the Civil/Structural Engineer
- Review and approve design briefs, specifications, drawings, and contract documentation.
- Act as technical authority for designs across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects (e.g., bridges, highways and piers).
- Assess and approve consultant designs for compliance, safety, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and design governance.
Skills and Experience of the Civil/Structural Engineer
- Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate experience in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Ideally working towards MICE, MStructE, or equivalent professional membership.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
