Job Summary:
As a Billing and Debt Manager, you will lead and integrate the Billing and Debt teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and operational excellence. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of billing validation, debt management, and quality assurance, ensuring that bills are validated, delivered and paid on time, and that debt is managed proactively.
This role is responsible for accurate and timely validation, management and reporting of clients’ utility bills, ensuring that supplier errors and savings are identified and brought to a resolution. This role will drive process improvements, ensure high standards of client service, and foster a client-centric, high-performance culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Unified management of billing and debt processes, ensuring effective collaboration between teams.
- Lead, coach and mentor the team.
- Timely and accurate validation, delivery and reporting of client bills, and proactive debt management, including reconciliation, reporting, and resolution of queries.
- Achievement of all team KPIs and SLAs (e.g., bill completeness, invoice validation, payment file accuracy, debt reconciliation).
- Implementation of robust quality assurance and continuous improvement measures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Effective escalation and resolution of complex billing and debt queries.
- Drive innovation in systems and processes.
Skills, know-how and experience required:
- Strong understanding of the energy industry.
- Excellent understanding of the bill validation process, and all elements of a utility bill.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft packages (Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, Onenote).
- Intermediate Excel, such as pivot tables, lookups, concatenate.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-experts.
